Abstract

The research aims to identify the productive capacity of red meat in Egypt and New Valley governorate, Egypt. Besides study the marketing efficiency of red meat in the research sample in New Valley governorate. in addition, identify the marketing tracks of red meat to know the obstacles facing red meat producers in the governorate. The results showed that the value of red meat production in Egypt increased by 10.08% over the period. The average value of animal production in Egypt represents about 35% of the average value of agricultural production. as it represents the average value of red meat production in Egypt is about 30% of the average value of animal production. Also. the average number of farm animals producing red meat in Egypt was about 9913.50 thousand animal units. of which about 4450.70 thousand animal units of cows represented about 44.89% of the total animal units in Egypt during the period (2000-2019). and the average number of animals the farm producing red meat in New Valley governorate. about 131.04 thousand animal units. of which about 114.90 thousand animal units of cows. representing about 87.31% of the total animal units in the governorate during the same period. Besides increase in the total consumption. and gap of red meat in Egypt by 1.65%. and 4.41%. respectively. from the average period (2000-2019). It was also shown that the percentage of self-sufficiency ratio and average per capita red meat in Egypt decreased by 0.99% and 4.12% from the average for the same period. The results indicated the marketing efficiency indicators for the research sample categories show that the losses costs (net worth) for the three categories and the total sample represent the largest proportion of the total marketing costs followed by brokers and brokers’ profits. while the inspection costs and the arrival of the buyer and market fees represent a weak percentage, this is due to the lack of specialized markets in all the governorate centers which makes it imperative to market cows' calves to sell them outside the governorate to the nearest governorates. which is the province of Assiut, Egypt and for the distance between the centers of the governorate and after them from the nearest governorates of Assuit governorate. we find that the transportation costs represent a large percentage of the total costs It is ranked third in terms of relative importance.
