Abstract

The tropical Kotumbsar cave which is formed in the limestone of Kanger valley is situated in Jagadalpur district of MP. The cave forms lateral galleries and two chambers of ‘halls' containing small water pools. This is the first report on any Indian subterranean cave of which the physicochemical conditions of water and soil have been studied. For the first time any cave water has been studied for its free CO2, Mg and chloride and its soil, with respect to its pH, phosphorus, K, Ca, Mg, nitrate, ammonia, sulphate and chloride contents.

This is the first attempt Where the climatical conditions of any tropical Cave has - corporated in its study.
