Abstract

Electronic mail (email) is the preferred communication tool for businesses. With the increasing demand for information and communication it is important that email is managed effectively so it does not impact on employee performance and productivity, but to also reduce its potentially negative effects on decision making and even employee health and wellness. Training on how to use email is often overlooked by employers and often not asked for by employees. However, if it is available, training on how to use email effectively and efficiently is recommended. Employees should also check to see if there is an email policy to help improve personal productively. The current article explores ten simple tips that can be implemented immediately to help to improve personal performance and productivity in the workplace.
