Abstract

Histochemical studies made on liver and kidney show that Carbon monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) effect the activity of a few important enzymes like alkaline and acid phosphatases, and lipase. Inhibitory reactions of these enzymes suggest damage to the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum and the lysosomes of the tissues.
