Abstract

Using OPNET Modeler 14.5 for wireless Sensor networks (WSN), this research investigates the energy consumption of the existing modulation strategy and considers efficient approaches. WSN consists of tiny nodes that can communicate either in a homogeneous or heterogeneous network. The Digital Modulation technique affects the physical characteristics of a wireless sensor node. At different duty cycles, the Bit Error Rate (BER), packet loss ratio, Signal to Noise (SNR) ratio, received power, and consumed energy parameters influence the outcomes of our analysis. Derived results have shown the efficiency of the Quadrature amplitude modulation-64(QAM-64) modulation scheme over other modulations concerning best S/N ratio, received power, and low energy consumption within the GTS node.
