Abstract

Neeradimuthu Vallathi Mezhugu, a Traditional Siddha Herbo-mineral formulation is indicated for one type of Vali diseases i.e Thandaga Vatham. To ensure the security and effectiveness of this medication, pre-clinical study was conducted. This Internal Medicine is to be given to patients in a dose of 1 gm. twice a day for a period of 48 days. According to shastric literature, the trial medications were created. Analgesic and anti-inflammatory studies were conducted as part of this medication's preclinical safety (acute oral and repeated oral toxicity) and efficacy trials. Blood counts and Hb% did not significantly alter during the 15-day oral toxicity study with the medication. In acute experimental inflammatory conditions in rats, the test medication demonstrated notable analgesic and anti-inflammatory action. The test drug demonstrated the greatest anti-inflammatory activity at the end of the fourth hour following carrageenan challenge; the mechanism of anti-inflammatory activity of the test drug may be attributed to its inhibitory activity on cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. Moreover, phytochemical and antioxidant studies revealed its efficacy in treating Vatha diseases, particularly Thandaga Vatham.
